About Piano Nova

The Story

Every time I found a piece I loved, I'd hit a wall trying to learn it alone. The sheet music was too complex to sight-read, there was no one to break it down for me, and after struggling through the first page, I'd move on. The piece stayed unfinished.

I tried existing piano apps. But they all had the same problem: you couldn't bring your own music. Fixed song libraries, falling-note displays, preset curricula. None of them let me upload the score I actually wanted to learn and work through it at my own pace.

So I built Piano Nova — a tool that turns any sheet music into an interactive practice session. Upload a PDF, photo, or MusicXML file. Slow it down. Loop the hard bars. Practice hands separately. Play along with your MIDI keyboard. That's it. No curriculum. No falling blocks. Just you, your score, and the tools to actually learn it.

What Makes Piano Nova Different

Ivan Shapovalov

Founder & Pianist

I'm a pianist and software engineer. I built Piano Nova because I wanted a tool that didn't exist — one that lets you learn any piece you want, at your own pace, with real notation and a real keyboard. No preset libraries. No falling notes. Just the music you love and the tools to learn it.
